Jean Hitchcock, corporate vice president of marketing and communications for Scripps Health, received the Scripps nomination for the YWCA's 2008 Tribute to Women in Industry (TWIN) Award.
The award, which was presented at a luncheon June 27 at the San Diego Convention Center, honors professional women throughout San Diego for their excellence and outstanding achievements as leaders in their organizations. Since its inception in 1980, the TWIN award has honored 2,348 local businesswomen and raised nearly $2 million. Hitchcock was honored for her success in leading a team of more than 50 marketing and communications professionals throughout the Scripps system. Under Hitchcock's guidance, public reputation-building efforts helped Scripps achieve a record $74 million in charitable contributions from the community in 2007.
Hitchcock also collaborated closely with colleagues to apply a strategic marketing approach to Scripps' recent successful employee recruitment efforts. In addition, Hitchcock serves on the national board of the American Hospital Association's Society for Healthcare strategy and Market Development.
Prior to coming to Scripps, Hitchcock was a principal with Rynne Marketing Group where she developed marketing strategies for major health care systems. She also served as the corporate director of communications for OhioHealth. Hitchcock has been with Scripps since 2003 and currently resides with her husband David in La Jolla.
