A group of UCSD researchers are embarking on another series of studies related to Gulf War illnesses that will test the effectiveness of a naturally made enzyme.
Headed by School of Medicine Associate Professor Beatrice Golomb, M.D., Ph.D., the study will examine the effectiveness of CoEnzyme Q10, which is made by the human body. CoQ10 levels, reported to decrease with age and are low in patients with some chronic diseases, can be raised by taking supplements, according to a UCSD news release.
Participants will be involved in six visits of two to three hours over 12 months, which will be conducted on campus at UCSD Medical Center, La Jolla. Potential participants should contact Janis Ritchie at (858) 558, 4950, Ext. 203, or e-mail jbritchie@ucsd.edu.
