Football
La Jolla High School suffered a 17-12 defeat to Mission Bay on Oct. 31. The Vikings led early, but committed three costly turnovers, two of which led to Mission Bay scores.

Henry Nawahine completed 11 of his 22 passes to lead La Jolla's offense, and Victor Rangel carried the ball 11 times for 79 yards. Nawahine connected with Zac Zlatic for a 10-yard scoring pass in the fourth quarter, and Lee Abelkop converted field-goal attempts of 39 and 33 yards.

Linebacker Harper Allen led the defensive effort with six tackles and a sack. Thomas Brown had six tackles, and Kitt Livingston made five tackles and intercepted a pass.

La Jolla Country Day fell to Army and Navy Academy, 27-21, on Nov. 1. The Torreys trailed by 13 points with five minutes to play, but gave themselves a chance late by scoring with 2 minutes to play and then executing a successful onside kick. The rally fell short, though, with an incomplete fourth-down pass inside the opponents' 20 yard line.

Montell Allen carried the ball 24 times for 158 yards and two touchdowns. Derek Hatfield rushed for 51 yards and a score on 16 attempts, and completed 15 of 24 passes for 134 yards with one interception.

Allen spearheaded the defensive effort, making 11 tackles. Blake Mohseni made seven tackles.

The Bishop's School suffered a 42-18 loss to Horizon Christian on Oct. 31. Horizon took a 21-point lead in the second quarter, and the Knights never recovered.

Freshman quarterback Joey Moreno provided some offensive highlights, completing 13 of his 16 passes for 177 yards and a touchdown. Micah Seau led the defense with 11 tackles and two sacks.

Carly Bollert and Thea Derrough each had 14 kills, and Kristen Casey tallied 13. Julie Gantz led the Knights with three aces and 31 digs, while Ina Kamenova totaled 41 assists.

The Knights won another rivalry game on Nov. 1, beating La Jolla High School, 25-20, 25-20, 21-25, 25-19. Kendall Lord led the Knights with 10 kills, and Maddie Lord contributed three aces.

Boys' water polo
The Bishop's School swam to a 7-6 victory over Cathedral Catholic on Oct. 27. Drew Hoffenberg sparked the offense with two goals and two assists, while Justin Wolfe and Scott Siegel each scored twice. Christian Ronald made 12 saves.
